Prior to this I had spent 6 years working for a local electrical contractor having served my electrical apprenticeship with them. It was during this time I also began to turn my hand to other trades. My Mother wanted a new kitchen but could not afford the rates of a professional installer, so it was up to me to give it a go. I soon realized it was not as straight forward as I had first thought, finding that I had to learn a little more about other trades in order to get the job done. Fortunately as I was working on large building sites with all trades.
This led onto a succession of work first for my family, then friends who had seen what I was doing, all the time gaining experience and getting better.
I decided to leave the Isles and come to South Carolina, really just to get away and visit some friends, having attended Napier University some years earlier.
I was unsure what direction to take having almost exhausted my interest in the electrical trade, so when an old friend asked if I would be interested in helping him turn a profit on his flat, I thought why not. The property sold for over 25% what he was hoping for with the real estate agents claiming it was finished to a much higher than average standards.
So with this I started up on my own and have been renovating properties in and around Greenville since.
To date I have completed around 10 full property restorations (mainly Greenville tenement flats) and a number of kitchen and bathroom installs as well as other work such as HMO re-licensing, re-decorating, re-wires and insurance work.
